Jens Bollerslev is head of the Section of Specialized Endocrinology at Oslo University Hospital, and Professor of Endocrinology at the University in Oslo, Norway. His is member of the Executive Board, the European Society of Endocrinology, and chair of the ESE Education Committee. Moreover, he is member of the ESE Clinical Committee and thereby involved in the development of ESE Clinical Guidelines. He serves on the Editorial Board of JCEM and Endocrine.
His special interest is within clinical and translational endocrinology, and in particular classical endocrine diseases, such as Acromegaly and Cushing’s, often studying bone as target tissues for clinical activity. Several projects from his group at the University in Oslo have recently given new insight for the understanding of pituitary adenomas, and especially predictors for successful treatment. A major interest has been devoted to metabolic bone disorders, other than postmenopausal osteoporosis, as illustrated by his work for The Scandinavian Study of Primary Hyperpathyroidism. He has a deep interest in the control of bone remodeling as seen in classical endocrine and inherited metabolic diseases. As such, he has published more than 245 papers in international, peer reviewed journals.
